The goal of this project is to improve the overall healing experience for broken or fractured limbs by focusing on the patient’s comfort and healing time. Osteoid cast offers a new way of tackling these problems by introducing new technologies which enables us to make custom fitted, durable 3D printed medical casts that doesn't itch or smell. The end products are slimmer, lighter, doesn't affect from water and environmentally friendly. This cast can also be combined with, a low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) bone stimulator resulting in faster recovery.
For 25 years Bari has been absorbed by a debate on the future of the iron sea which separates its historically defined part and the expansion one. The project is part of a MArch degree thesis from the Polytechnic of Bari, about the 'Grande Bari' plan, involved to solve this issue. The goal of the project is to make the station a pleasant, clear and safe to use place, solving the problematic node of the tracks moving from the Centre of the City. The new infrastructure is sustainable and produces energy thanks twelve structural trees made of recycled steel with solar roof on the top.
Alice Le Biez, French young designer has realized a set of three bowls, printed in 3D ceramics. The shape of each bowls reminds traditional ceramics technique. She created with her project an illusion of a hand-made bowl by the design but also by the making process. Her 3D printing object explores the link between traditional skills and new technologies and demonstrates that designer can use the new technologies as a tool to go further in their work and discover a new field of creation.
The Pebble Collection is inspired by the organic shape of the humble pebble. These elegant plates and bowls are made from bagasse. Bagasse is a robust natural by-product of sugarcane, which is renewable and compostable. It requires fewer chemicals for processing and uses less energy to process. Once composted, it returns to soil in just 8 weeks. What better raw material to use for a single use/disposable plate and bowl.
Cellular Table has been commissioned to explore new ways of producing metal in the field of furniture design. The project uses a double-layer algorithmic pattern to provide both strength and flexibility. The final form of the table is developed through multiple iterations of the algorithm to provide an optimum level of porosity and lightness. Finally, the manufacturing process offers the use of both 3d printing and electro-forming process to increase both lightweight and sculptural qualities of a typical metal furniture within in a given interior environment.
The BowTie, by Monocircus, is a bow tie made by 3D printing technology. It is a bow tie made in nylon plastic and needs no tying like the typical fabric bow ties. To put it on, simply slot it onto the button of any collared dress shirt. It is easy and comfortable to wear and stays in shape and style without the need for adjusting. The checkered mesh structure creates an interesting visual impact, yet maintains a simplicity that is suitable for different fashion styles and occasions whether formal or casual.
